If you’re a follower of this blog, you’ve probably noticed our little “re-design”. Over the last week, I’ve spent time beautifying and tweaking things to make sure that everything looks pretty and loads quickly for our readers. I am now completely thrilled with it, however, I feel if I read one more HTML code, I’ll go bonkers😵!
So today I’m taking time off from coding to post a super easy doll craft:
How To Make Doll Visa Cards For Barbie Dolls:
That’s right! Visa cards for dolls! I recently discovered a simple way to make doll-sized credit cards that doesn’t require printing.
Due to some recent purchases from DisneyStore.com, I’m drowning in little leaflets advertising Disney visa cards, like this one:
The cards pictured on the flyers are the perfect size for a 12″ doll. So, instead of throwing them away, I decided to recycle the ads and make Barbie-sized, Disney themed visas!
To make the cards you will need:
Poster board or white cardstock paper
A Disney Visa advertisement–any credit card advertisement will work as long as the card’s picture is the right size for your doll. For a 12″ doll this is about 2 cm wide and 1 cm tall.
We’re going to start by gluing the advertisement to of a piece of poster board or heavy paper, like cardstock. If you use poster board then glue it to the non-slick side.
Once the glue has dried, cut out the individual cards. There are ten cards pictured on this particular leaflet.
After cutting out the cards, use a black permanent marker to draw a line across the back, or even take it a step further and use stickers or washi tape to make the backs look extra fancy!
Now we need to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the front and back of the cards to seal them and keep them from tearing. The Mod Podge will seal the cards (making them last longer) and act as an extra layer of glue ensuring that any stickers or washi tape you use don’t peel off.
Here is a look at the finished product:Since I was designing this card for Elsa, I embellished it with sparkly blue washi tape and stickers. Perfect for our resident Snow Queen!
Anastasia picked the red, “Mickey Mouse” card for her new visa:
I feel a shopping spree coming on!
And that, my friends, is how to recycle credit card advertisements and make simple (yet very realistic looking) visa cards for your dolls! I hope you enjoyed this quick craft and feel free to leave a comment and share this post!
