We are so excited!  Christmas Day is almost here!!  We have our dolls nicely outfitted in their new Christmas wear.Merry Christmas 2016

But what about the Tsum Tsums?  We can’t forget them, can we?

Of course not! So today we are going to make holiday accessories for our mini Tsum Tsums.

Hooray!

Let’s get started!

To make a Santa hat you will need:

  6. Scissors

  • Cut a small square of red felt.  The size doesn’t have to be precise.  Just make sure it is not too big.

  • Fold it in half and sew a straight line down one side.
  • Turn the felt square right side out, and place the point at the top so it looks like a diamond.
  • Cut straight across the width, from point A to point B, making a cone.

Sew Trim And Elastic To Hat

  • Sew white, bulky yarn around the bottom edge of the cone for trim.

  • Measure out a piece of elastic cord that will fit comfortably around your Tsum Tsum.

  • On the inside of the cone, sew (or glue) the cord to the right and left sides.  If you don’t have elastic cord you can also use a hair tie.  Just cut it in half to make a long, stretchy rope.

Glue Pop-Pom To Hat

  • Finally, glue a pom-pom to the top of the hat!

Now you have a super cute Santa hat for your Tsum Tsum!

To make a pair of reindeer antlers you will need:

Tsum Tsum Christmas Craft: Reindeer Antlers

  1. A brown pipe cleaner (or chenille stem)

  2. Scissors

  3. Glue

Making Antlers For Tsum Tsum With Chenille Stem

  • Take the pipe cleaner and, using your Tsum Tsum as a guide, cut a portion to make the “headband” part of the antlers.
  • After cutting the pipe cleaner to fit, give it a curve it so it will sit nicely on your Tsum Tsum’s head.

Wrapping Chenille Stem To Make Antlers

  • Cut more pieces of pipe cleaner (two long pieces and four short ones) to make horns for the antlers.
  • Wrap two long pipe cleaners around the middle of the curved piece and twist the ends to keep them in place.
  • Then wrap two short pipe cleaners around long pieces to make points.

Your antlers should look something like this:

I recommend adding a touch of glue to the twisted ends to thoroughly secure them.

Once the glue is dry you can put them on your Tsum Tsum!

To make an elf collar you will need:

Christmas Craft For Tsum Tsums: Elf Collar

  1. Red and green felt

  2. An elastic hair tie

  3. A needle and thread

  4. Small bells

  5. Scissors

If you don’t have elastic cord, a hair tie makes a great substitute!

Use A Hair Tie To Make A Tsum Tsum Collar

It’s the perfect size for a Tsum Tsum collar!

Make Diamond Shapes Out Of Felt

  • Using red and green felt, cut several, small, diamond-shaped pieces.  When folded, these pieces will look like little flags.

Fold And Sew Felt Diamonds Around Hair Tie

  • Now take one of your felt pieces, fold it around the hair tie (making a triangle) and begin sewing down the long sides.

  • Continue sewing felt triangles around the hair tie, alternating the colors.  If you don’t want to sew, you can also use glue to attach the felt.

Sew Bells To Pointed Ends Of Felt

  • Once all the flags are attached, sew or glue little bells to the tips of each one.

Our final Christmas craft will be a tulle collar for Bagheera. I want it to look something like this:

To make a holiday-inspired tulle collar you will need:

Christmas Craft For Tsum Tsum: Holiday Tulle Collar

  1. Tulle in Christmas colors.  I chose red, white, and lime green (lime was the only green I could find😒)

  2. Elastic cord or a hair tie.

  3. Scissors

  4. Glue

*Note: If you are using a hair tie you can skip the first three steps.

Make An Elastic Collar To Wrap The Tulle Around

  • Measure and cut a strip of elastic cord that will fit around your Tsum Tsum.

  • Tie the ends of the cord together, making a loop.

  • Add a dab of glue to the knot at the end of the elastic to secure it and then cut off the excess cord.

Wrap Strips Of Tulle Around Elastic

  • Now take your tulle and begin cutting it into thin strips. My strips are about 3″ wide (don’t worry about the length–we’ll trim it later).

  • Tie the strips around the elastic cord, alternating between colors.

  • Keep tying the tulle around the cord until it is completely covered.

Let’s see how it looks!

Yikes!  That is way too long! Let me trim it up super quick…

It would also be easy to resize these costumes to fit other plushies, such as American Girl pets…

  1. Great idea for a post. I don't collect tsum tsums myself, but I know a lot of people do. And being a doll collector who has several dolls in odd sizes that are difficult to find spare clothing for, I appreciate the idea of creating something for an under-served niche market. The fact that these items can be created at home by the average person without fancy, specialized equipment makes it even better.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays.

  2. Thank you! Yes, I love creating unique things using ordinary items that I already have on hand–like hair ties😉
